Lived here for 4 years during university and it is definitely one of, if not, the best accommodations in Sunderland for students! Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and there is a range of places to socialise and study with friends!\nI had an ensuite room which gave me a really spacious bedroom and separate bathroom fitted with a toilet, sink and shower and heated towel rail! It's really been a huge part of my university life living at the Forge!","time":"1783007062","created_at":"2026-08-01 19:55:25","updated_at":"2026-11-01 12:58:59","deleted_at":null,"deleted_by":null},{"id":17186,"build_id":"55994","author_name":"Nyx Pugh","author_url":"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/contrib\/116394415049189166572\/reviews","language":"en","profile_photo_url":"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/a-\/ALV-UjUv0PKL95Rjs68QZn7qAQFCACd2g0Hmwrsc_yM_Pd9r7zfRFq8=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo","rating":"5","relative_time_description":"4 months ago","text":"I moved to the forge as my original accommodation close down, but I'm so glad I did. I've been there 2 years. The staff are friendly and super helpful, mantainance is on hand during weekdays and actually fix problems, there's social activities regularly, and even a dishwasher! Very secure, with 24-hour security and gated access. I've been here since September 2023 and I'm in a flat of 4 people and we're all girls. They are all en-suite rooms which is very convenient in terms of cleanliness. The kitchen is very spacious and large for the 4 people and there is a fridge with a large freezer as well, lots of space. For the bedrooms, very clean but only comes with furniture, there is no lamp on the desk or toilet roll holder, hangers etc. I'm from Canada so I had to buy everything here. I highly recommend b&m store or tesco extra, you'll find bedding, home accessories, food, whatever you need cheap and very nice. The room was spotless when I arrived and so was the bathroom . The staff are very attentive to our needs and check the flats every month to make sure everything is working. The accommodation is a 10 min walk from the nearest metro station and if you are going to the university there is a bus offered by the uni which runs from the accommodation to the uni during the week all day. Ask at reception for the timetable or visit the university website.\n\nThe disadvantages I would say would be the location, grocery stores or metro are within 10 minutes walk so not always convenient (we have a small convenient store in the accomodation location. There's no city bus service nearby, only on the main street. Room heating is timed and can only be turned on for a maximum of 2 hours at a time, so not convenient on cold days. The lack of light too, it would be nice if the accomodation provided a desk lamp as others do.\n\nI would recommend to the Forge to maybe add a small gym as many other accommodations have due to the fact that we are far from gyms. The mirror in the toilet is very high, so it's not convenient for short people so a large mirror in the bedrooms would be appreciated also.\nIn general I really enjoyed my stay here, once you've made the place your own you feel right at home.","time":"1708042372","created_at":"2026-08-01 19:55:25","updated_at":"2026-11-01 12:58:59","deleted_at":null,"deleted_by":null}],"apartments":[],"distance":"21 mins by public transport to Central Sunderland","no_place":"0","no_visa":"0","covid_offer":"0","deposit_type":"Deposit","admin_fees":false,"hide_from_website":"0","university_only":"0","desc":"
