What is the nature of a fixed-term agreement?

A fixed-term agreement is a formal commitment to remain in the residence for the entire length of the contract.

Are there costs associated with moving out early?

Yes. Leaving before the contract ends typically triggers a "break fee," which serves as a financial penalty for non-completion of the term.

How is the break fee calculated?

The fee is determined by how much of the contract has elapsed at the time of departure:

    • Less than one-quarter finished: 4 weeks’ rent.

    • Between one-quarter and one-half finished: 3 weeks’ rent.

    • Between one-half and three-quarters finished: 2 weeks’ rent.

    • More than three-quarters finished: 1 week’s rent.

Can a tenant ever leave early without paying a fee?

Exceptions exist for safety and legal reasons. Specifically, an agreement can be terminated instantly and without cost if the tenant or their child is facing domestic violence.

Does the landlord have the same rights to end the contract?

A landlord’s ability to terminate an agreement prematurely is strictly regulated and limited to specific reasons defined by residential tenancy legislation.

The above cancellation policy is a synopsis of the property’s cancellation policy. There could be a few changes incorporated from time to time. Hence, we recommend you review the full Accommodation Contract for a comprehensive understanding of their cancellation policies.

What methods can be used to pay rent and fees?

Residents can pay through Direct Deposit or Cohort GO (reserved for students). EFTPOS is also accepted at the reception desk, though it carries an additional 1.75% processing fee.

      Is cash accepted on-site?

No, the facility does not accept cash for any accommodation-related payments.

How is the billing cycle determined?

The timing and amount of all charges are dictated by the payment schedule found within the individual’s Occupancy Agreement.

What happens if a payment is missed?

Payments must be received by the dates listed in the schedule. Failure to do so will result in late fees. It is advisable to transfer funds early to ensure they are processed on time.
