Blending a 125-year historic red-brick facade with a contemporary design layout, this Hello Student property serves as a premium, highly central home away from home.
The Positives: Unbeatable Proximity and Historic Charm
This residence sets itself apart from standard, sterile student high-rises by prioritizing architectural character alongside absolute convenience.
An Unmatched Location: Its placement on Myrtle Street is second to none. It sits directly across the road from the University of Liverpool and is a mere five-minute walk to Liverpool John Moores University’s Mount Pleasant campus, allowing you to roll out of bed right into lectures.
Unique Heritage Spaces: The rooms—ranging from en-suites in flat shares to spacious, self-contained studios—feature high ceilings, large windows, and open-plan designs that beautifully preserve the property's rich history.
All-Inclusive, Stress-Free Billing: Rent bundles all core utility bills (water, heating, electricity, and high-speed Wi-Fi) alongside basic contents insurance into a single transparent price, simplifying student budgeting.
Excellent Social Amenities: When you need a break from studying, the building features an impressive suite of communal areas, including an on-site cinema room, a fully-equipped gym, a quiet study zone, and a lively games area complete with a foosball table.
Built-in Dining: Famously, the highly acclaimed Liverpool Art School Restaurant operates right on the lower levels of the building, offering a sophisticated dinner spot right downstairs when family comes to visit.
The Drawbacks: Premium Pricing and Limited Space
While the living standards are top-tier, there are a few practical compromises to consider before signing a tenancy agreement.
A Steep Entry Cost: This is positioned as premium accommodation, with prices reflecting its high-end amenities and location. Weekly rates sit noticeably higher than standard university halls or traditional student houses in the area.
Rapid Sell-Outs: Because the building contains fewer total units than the massive city-centre multi-complexes, popular room types sell out incredibly fast. Securing a room requires booking well ahead of the academic calendar.
Restricted External Views: Given the historic nature and shape of the building, certain mid-tier "Bigger Studio" choices come explicitly with a "limited view" tag on the lower levels, which might feel slightly enclosed for some.
The Verdict
Art School Lofts is a superb, premium student choice that swaps out boring student blocks for a unique piece of Liverpool history. If your budget stretches to cover the luxury price point, the unbeatable daily commute times and stunning communal spaces make it a highly desirable 4.5 out of 5 stars home.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjVjDqZDhcPxvoNPSFi4x30PF0z-Ao_k7Dl0hzK2wna_AlEaUgE=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo-ba4
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjUFcungTSHxNeggyoPj8g7RzbQ40HIxnLBaL76ei-4HVAkCs00=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo
5
Only being here for little over a month, I can already say, that this may be the best accommodation in Liverpool.
