My studio has always felt like a safe and comfortable space where I can switch off after a busy day and focus on my studies. It’s modern and spacious with everything I’ve needed throughout my time here. Having my own space has made a huge difference during a demanding postgraduate course, and I’ve always felt safe and at home.

One of the best things about living at Grand Central has definitely been the staff - everyone has always been so welcoming, friendly, personable and approachable, and they’re always happy to help; they take the time to get to know residents, creating a real sense of community and making the complex feel much more like home. In particular, Liv, Ethan and Alex have been amazing whenever I’ve had any questions or concerns, and they’ve always helped sort my deliveries quickly and efficiently. It’s clear they genuinely care about the residents and want everyone to have a positive experience.

As a postgraduate student, I’ve really appreciated how supportive the team are when it comes to mental health and wellbeing. I feel that they create an environment where you feel comfortable asking for help if you need it and always take the time to listen without judgement. I’ve also witnessed staff supporting students experiencing mental health crises and have always handled these situations calmly, professionally and with genuine compassion. Their empathy and caring approach have been incredibly reassuring and I feel are a real credit to the team.

The maintenance staff are always quick to respond to any issues and are respectful and considerate when carrying out work in your studio. Theresa and the rest of the domestic team have also been such lovely, friendly faces over the past two years and really help make the building and grounds feel welcoming and well cared for.

Finally, the location is hugely convenient; being right in Liverpool city centre with excellent transport links around Merseyside has made travelling to university and placements really easy throughout my MSc. It has also allowed for plenty of opportunities to explore the city with it being on my doorstep!

I’d highly recommend Grand Central - the facilities are great, the studios are spacious and comfortable, and the staff genuinely go above and beyond to make you feel welcome, supported and at home. It’s been the perfect place to live for me.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a-/ALV-UjUz8xYsp5zML8Z4Btdo6m8iRW6TWiXhPtpp4l1OFmsoc9In7sOY8w=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo-ba4
5
I’ve lived at Grand Central in Liverpool for three years now, and overall I’ve had a really positive experience. I originally chose it because of the location. It’s right next to Lime Street, which makes going home for weekends really easy, and it’s within walking distance of LJMU. You’re also close to everything you need, with shops like Tesco, Lidl and Aldi nearby, which makes day today life a lot easier.

One of the things that made me feel comfortable moving in was the security. It’s a gated accommodation, and over the years they’ve added turnstiles, which gives it that extra bit of reassurance. They can be a little inconvenient at times, but if you need access-you can just ask and the staff are always happy to help.

The apartment itself has been great for me. I’m in a studio and there’s a good amount of space. The bathroom is a good size, the shower is spacious, and the bed is honestly one of the best parts- it feels like a proper large double and the mattress has held up really well over the three years I’ve lived here. The vinyl flooring also makes cleaning much easier. There are some things that could be improved, like having slightly bigger wardrobes or a better freezer, but overall it’s a comfortable place to live.

The maintenance team have always been really quick to respond. There’s an app where you can report issues, and most of the time someone is there within half an hour. I think that’s one of the biggest things with accommodation like this- you do have to report things when they happen. If your toilet breaks or something stops working, you can’t just leave it and expect it to fix itself. The process is really simple, and the staff are always willing to help.

The staff have genuinely been one of the best parts of living here. They’re welcoming, supportive and always there when you need them. Over the years Ihave gotten to know members of the reception and maintenance teams, and they’ve always made Grand Central feel like more than just a building. They’ve been kind and understanding, especially during stressful times, and that’s something I really appreciate.

I’d honestly give Grand Central a 10/10. Of course, no accommodation is perfect and there are always little things that could be improved, but for me the positives massively outweigh the negatives. If you look after your space, communicate when something needs fixing, and make use of the support that’s there, it’s a really good place to live.

LJMU GRAD '26
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocL9NT9egMHnpXdBFZvoZ5KLVcnU-M1FPce4r8fBxIp_rBtbbIk=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo
4
Grand Central has been a good place to stay especially as a first year student, being so close to the city centre and learning how to basically live on your own. I think the room has been really nice and basically my safe space, never worried about my safety here. My only concern with the accommodation is how often there is a maintenance issue around my flat as I have had to submit around 10-15 requests already, the only good side to this is that the response time is quite speedy and unless the problem is beyond the maintenance teams abilities it is normally fixed within two days.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/a/ACg8ocLXlvgb8yTEMdcxCiHKzkhQ2Izfyw7Hf_-fTSFo9QJNCvu6eA=s128-c0x00000000-cc-rp-mo
5
I recently moved out of from here, and overall, it was a really good place to stay. They even gave us a gift voucher for the inconvenience, which was a nice gesture.

I stayed in a Premium Ensuite on the 10th floor, and I really liked it, it’s more spacious than the standard rooms, very clean, and well maintained, so it never felt cramped.
