Caton Court is a 33-minute tube ride to the University of Lancaster. It is close to various transport links and the city centre is a small distance away. There is a Pizza Hut branch just a couple of steps away for your weekly pizza night with friends. Vue Cinema is also a small ride away along with Lancaster Castle, Lancaster Cathedral and various other city attractions.
The city of Lancaster is the county town of Lancashire, England. It is situated on the banks of the River Lune, which passes through the city. International students residing in Lancaster never get bored, since it houses several landmarks, such as Lancaster City Museum, Quayside Maritime Museum, Williamson Park, Lancaster Grand Theatre, and Lancaster Castle. Lancaster is known for its artistic scene, as it postulates numerous organizations involved one way or another with arts and culture, such as Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University, Nuffield Theatre, Peter Scott Gallery, and the Lancaster International Concerts series, as well as The Lancaster Jazz and Lancaster Music Festivals which are both held annually every September and October in Lancaster, based at different venues across the city.
The city houses Lancaster University which has four faculties: Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Faculty of Health and Medicine, Faculty of Science and Technology, and Faculty of Management. The university also supports Students' Union that is representing the students’ voices to be heard. Lancaster & Morecambe College, also in Lancaster, has a sports centre, conferencing facilities, hairdressing salon, beauty salon, dog grooming parlour, restaurant, nursery and recording studio; all are open to the public. The Adult College, Lancaster is owned and managed by Lancashire County Council as part of Lancashire Adult Learning.
The West Coast Main Line passes through Lancaster railway station. There are trains to and from London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds and Barrow-in-Furness. Stagecoach, which is the main bus operator in Lancaster, operates more than thirty buses from Lancaster Bus Station to Lancaster and Morecambe as well as frequent buses in Lancashire, and Greater Manchester. Noteworthy improvements to cycling routes had taken place, thus, cycling across the city is student-friendly. Manchester Airport and Liverpool Airport are the nearest airports to Lancaster.
